Cite Your Sources: William Lloyd Garrison was a major figure that was a leader of an anti-slavery movement. Anti-slavery societies were formed to fight for the freedom of slaves. A set back was the "Gag-Rule" which prohibited the freedom of slaves to be added to any new laws.
